Tanner is a graduate of McMaster University, in Hamilton, Ontario, with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours.  He is currently training in the field of patents. 

Tanner is an Affiliate Member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.  He has attended several courses dealing with practice in the field of patents.  These courses include:

• Understanding Patents:  An Introductory Course
• Patent Agent Training Course Module 1: Drafting and Prosecution
• Patent Agent Training Course Module 2: Infringement and Validity
• IPIC Patent Agent Tutorials

Tanner has experience in drafting patent applications, conducting patent searches, preparing responses to Official Actions, and has participated in patent infringement and validity analysis.
